January security patch now available for Google Nexus & Pixel devices
So, here comes another update. Last month Google released Android 7.1.1 for the Pixel and Nexus devices, so now its time for security update. Google rolling out January security update for Google Pixel and Nexus devices.
However the update is little delayed; normally the update arrives on Monday of the month. But this time it’s little late and its okay to wait if for 2 days if you are getting more stable update. The January Security patch bring fixes for 95 vulnerabilities.
And one of the most well known issue for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL device encountering a number of issues from audio distortion to limited battery concerns, is now finally resolved. This is the notable bug fixes or new features this update. There are 23 bugs in the security patch dated 2017-01-01 and 72 in the 2017-01-05 one. According to Google, the two security patch level strings provide “Android partners with the flexibility to more quickly fix a subset of vulnerabilities that are similar across all Android devices.”
The most severe of these issues is a Critical security vulnerability that could enable remote code execution on an affected device through multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files. Google notes that there are no reports of customers being affected by these security issues.
